AEW star Thekla is responding to criticism over her behavior around young wrestling fans — and instead of apologizing, she’s leaning all the way in. Her “Toxic Toddlers” are now officially part of the act.

Thekla Responds to Criticism Over “Toxic Toddlers” Behavior Around Young Fans
Speaking to Playby, Thekla was asked about her viral declaration that “Thekla is for the children.” It all started with a clip that caught her dropping one of her “famous dumb bitch quotes” on stage — while two small children stood right beside her.
“There’s this clip of me saying it on the stage, and there’s like two small children standing right next to me as I’m calling this girl a dumb bitch, and everybody cheering, and those kids just look at me,” Thekla recalled. The moment exploded online, largely because of the kids’ reactions — hilarious, inappropriate, and impossible to ignore.
The buzz eventually reached Renee Paquette, who jokingly asked in an interview whether Thekla was really “for the children.” Her answer: “Hell yeah, Thekla is for the children. You know, shout out to my toxic toddlers.”
The Kids Weren’t Traumatized — They’re Big Thekla Fans
Here’s the twist: the two kids weren’t scared of her. Their father later reached out and revealed both children were actually big Thekla fans — and had only one question afterward: “Daddy, what is a bitch?”
Thekla found the whole thing funny: “I love kids. I’m sure somebody will, you know, teach them the hard way, anyway, at some point. Let it be Auntie Thekla.”
What started as an awkward viral clip has now become part of Thekla’s character. Rather than backpedaling from the criticism, she’s embraced the controversy — and her “Toxic Toddlers” army has an origin story that might be the funniest in wrestling right now.
