Your Letter Musical Arrow Accident Strikes Four Audience Members

The accident happened during the 8 PM performance of the musical Your Letter on October 20, in a scene titled “M13. Shooting an Arrow.” According to production company Soo Company, an actor fired an arrow at a stage target — but the arrow unexpectedly bounced off and flew toward the audience, grazing four people before coming to a stop.

The actor and theater house manager immediately checked on the affected audience members before the performance resumed and concluded. Whether anyone sustained injuries was not disclosed.

Soo Company Issues Apology and Vows Tighter Safety

On October 21, Soo Company issued an official apology. The statement reads, in part: “Above all, we sincerely apologize to the audience members who must have been startled by this unexpected accident while watching the performance.”

The company says it is “taking this incident very seriously” and has already reinforced the safety of the target’s metal frame and the metal sections of the stairs to prevent similar accidents. It also promised more thorough safety inspections of props and stage equipment, adding: “We will continue to prioritize audience safety and exercise even greater care and attention throughout our performances.”

Your Letter is an original musical adaptation of the Naver Webtoon of the same name. The story follows transfer student Lee So Ri, who discovers a series of anonymous letters that lead her on a journey of healing and personal growth — a gentle premise that makes this backstage accident all the more shocking.

Stage accidents involving live props are rare in Korean musical theater, which makes this one likely to spark industry-wide safety reviews. For now, the biggest relief: four grazed audience members and a company promising to do better.
