The virtual boy group PLAVE has smashed their own record once again. Their fifth mini album “HYPERDRIVE” sold 1,322,973 copies in its first week, making it the biggest first-week sales week of their career.

The group made their comeback last week with “HYPERDRIVE” and its title track “Star Trace.” The album dropped digitally on October 12, with the physical version following a day later on October 13. According to Hanteo Chart, the first week of physical sales (October 13 to 19) blew past every number the group had posted before.
A Record That Keeps Getting Rewritten
PLAVE’s previous first-week record belonged to their last mini album, “Caligo Pt.2,” which sold 1,255,801 copies earlier this year. “HYPERDRIVE” has now beaten that mark by nearly 70,000 copies, proving the group’s momentum is only speeding up.
Even more impressive is the consistency behind the numbers. “HYPERDRIVE” is PLAVE’s fourth album to sell over 1 million copies in its first week, following “Caligo Pt.1,” “PLBBUU,” and “Caligo Pt.2.” Few acts of any kind can claim a streak like that, let alone a virtual group.
Virtual Idols, Very Real Numbers
PLAVE continues to erase the line between virtual and physical idols. Their sales figures now compete with the biggest names in K-pop, and each comeback seems to raise the ceiling a little higher. The success of “Star Trace” as a title track has only added to the buzz, with fans rallying behind both the music and the record-breaking performance.
With four straight million-seller first weeks and a brand-new personal best, PLAVE’s trajectory shows no signs of slowing down. If “HYPERDRIVE” is any indication, the next comeback could push the bar even higher.
