MVP has had enough of the rumors. After weeks of chatter that The Hurt Syndicate refused to put wrestlers over in AEW, the veteran took to Twitter to flatly deny the whole story — calling it “blatant lies” and hinting he now knows where the “whisper campaign” is coming from.

The rumors claimed that Bobby Lashley, Shelton Benjamin and MVP had pushed back on creative, that MVP was influencing the other two to say no to ideas, and that he had backstage heat with key members of AEW creative. MVP denied all of it in blunt terms.

MVP Denies Hurt Syndicate Refused to Put Wrestlers Over in AEW

Responding to an account that raised the rumors, MVP wrote: “Rumor? Nah man. You are absolutely Wrong!!!! None of this is true. But now I know where this whisper campaign is coming from!”

He doubled down after seeing more of the talk online: “So I open up Twitter to see lies being reported about The Hurt Syndicate. BLATANT LIES!!! Who is the source of these lies?”

Most notably, MVP went directly after the core claim — that the group did not want to lose to anyone. According to him, the opposite was true: “To the contrary, we wanted to work with younger talent! We wanted to drop the tag titles BACK to Private Party!!! STOP BELIEVING THE BS!”

That detail cuts to the heart of the controversy. Lashley and Benjamin previously took the AEW World Tag Team Championships from Private Party, and MVP is now saying the group wanted to eventually return the favor.

Where the Hurt Syndicate Rumors Came From

The chatter intensified after Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp addressed the group’s situation on The Hump. Sapp said he did not know why The Hurt Syndicate had not been featured as consistently lately, but claimed there had been situations where members of the group did not want to put other wrestlers over. He did not name which members, who they supposedly refused to lose to, or whether it connected to their reduced TV time.

MVP’s response leaves little room for interpretation: in his telling, the group was willing to elevate younger talent and hand the tag titles back. Whatever is actually happening with The Hurt Syndicate’s AEW booking, one thing is clear — MVP is not staying quiet while the stories circulate.
