Kam Hendrix does not see much difference between the football field and the wrestling ring. The NXT star and former football player says his move into pro wrestling felt natural — because, in his own words, he has always been a superstar.

Kam Hendrix On His Football To Wrestling Transition
Speaking to Pac-12 in a new interview, Hendrix was asked about swapping football for wrestling. His answer was characteristically confident: “There’s not that much of a transition. I’ve always been a superstar, I’ve been always Showtime, so when I go in, I step up in that plate, you know, I gotta show out. So it’s the same thing as football. It’s the same thing wrestling next week.”
Hendrix is part of a long line of football players who have crossed over into wrestling, a path famously walked by stars like Roman Reigns. In recent years, WWE has leaned further into that pipeline, signing NIL athletes and training them from the ground up — and Hendrix is one of the products of that system, now working as a member of the NXT roster.
Showtime Mentality From The Field To NXT
What stands out in Hendrix’s comments is the mindset: performance is performance, whether the stage is a stadium or a wrestling ring. The showmanship, the pressure to deliver in the moment, the need to “show out” — in his view, those demands barely changed when he changed sports.
It is a telling insight into how WWE’s newest generation thinks about the business. For athletes like Hendrix, wrestling is not a second career so much as a bigger stage for the same instincts. And if his “Showtime” attitude is anything to go by, he plans to keep showing out every week in NXT.
