Tony Khan has held a fresh round of meetings with Paramount Skydance, and the AEW president reportedly walked out of them happier than ever about the company’s future. The talks, revealed on Wrestling Observer Radio on October 25, add a new chapter to a story that has been building for weeks — without yet revealing what, exactly, was agreed.

According to Dave Meltzer, Khan flew from Florida to Los Angeles on Friday, October 23, for meetings with Skydance, before heading to North Carolina for Collision. The Los Angeles stop was squeezed into an already packed schedule, and Meltzer stressed that he does not know who attended or what was discussed.

Tony Khan leaves Paramount Skydance meetings extremely happy

What Meltzer did report was Khan’s mood afterwards. He said Khan came out of the meetings extremely happy — happier, in fact, than he has been about the relationship at any previous point.

“He came out of these meetings the happiest he’s been,” Meltzer said, noting that Khan has always spoken positively about the partnership, but that this round felt different. That distinction is the most concrete detail to emerge so far, and it has fuelled speculation about whether something bigger is in motion.

The timing is significant. Khan already confirmed during the October 17 AEW WrestleDream post-show press conference that he had spoken with David Ellison multiple times about AEW’s future. At the time, Khan said Ellison was enthusiastic about working with AEW, and he framed the Warner Bros. and Paramount combination as a major opportunity.

“Skydance means Warner Brothers and Paramount under the same roof, and this means more exciting opportunities and more resources,” Khan said. AEW already airs on TNT, TBS and HBO Max, so a merged Warner Bros. and Paramount world would, in Khan’s view, put its programming under one increasingly powerful roof.

What Tony Khan’s Skydance talks could mean for AEW

For now, fans should be careful about what has actually been confirmed — and what has not. There is no confirmed new television deal, no additional AEW show, no expanded streaming agreement and no announced financial commitment coming out of these meetings. Meltzer himself admitted the details remain unknown, leaving a large gap between Khan’s reaction and anything concrete.

That gap matters because the wider wrestling television landscape is shifting at the same time. Meltzer also reported that Women of Wrestling is losing its television syndication arrangement despite plans for another season, and that a separate channel carrying Women of Wrestling and NWA programming has been cancelled. Skydance, in other words, has shown it is willing to make cuts to wrestling-related programming.

But Meltzer indicated Khan’s meetings did not sound like they involved cutbacks. Whatever was discussed, he said, it sounded positive going forward — a notable contrast with the reductions elsewhere. That does not answer the biggest question, though: what exactly did Khan get out of these meetings?

Until details emerge, the story is best read as a strong signal rather than a done deal. Khan is talking, he is talking at a high level, and he is leaving those talks in an unusually good mood. For AEW fans, that is encouraging. For anyone looking for a signed agreement, the wait continues.
