Arena GNP Seguros is a venue more commonly associated with tennis tournaments, and it holds around 12,000 fans — a big stage for AAA’s first major night of 2027.

The advertising for the show already features a star-studded lineup. Names on the promotional material include El Grande Americano, La Catalina, Rey Mysterio, Dominik Mysterio, Omos, Perros Del Mal, Psycho Circus, Mr. Iguana, and La Parka.
That mix tells its own story: lucha libre legends alongside current stars, popular factions, and some of the most colourful characters in AAA today. Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio appearing together on the same advertising is sure to catch the eye, while Omos brings a very different kind of spectacle to a lucha libre ring.
AAA framed the announcement as a new-year celebration, writing: “New year. New memories. One unforgettable night in Acapulco. On January 2, welcome the new year together at Arena GNP Seguros, surrounded by the warmth of the coast and the energy of an unforgettable night.”
What to Expect From AAA in Acapulco
Further details on the event — including the full card and match announcements — are yet to be revealed, and more information is expected as January 2 approaches. But the choice of venue and date already says a lot about AAA’s ambitions for the show.
Opening the year in a 12,000-seat arena in a resort city is a statement of intent: a big, festive, destination event rather than a quiet return to action. Acapulco’s coastal setting, combined with a lineup spanning generations of lucha libre, gives AAA the ingredients for one of its most memorable nights of the new year.
For fans planning to start 2027 with wrestling, the message from AAA is simple — be in Acapulco on January 2, because the promotion is planning to welcome the new year with a bang.
