Tovah Feldshuh has responded to Adam Brody’s recent comments on Israel and Palestine, sharply disagreeing with her Nobody Wants This co-star. Feldshuh, who plays Brody’s on-screen mother Bina Roklov, spoke to the New York Post after Brody’s GQ interview drew wide attention.

In that interview last month, Brody — who plays Rabbi Noah Roklov on the Netflix series — said he had not previously spoken publicly about the Israel-Gaza issue, but that it came up often in private. He described Israel’s actions in Gaza as a genocide and said he wanted a free Palestine, adding that it was awful that so much death and misery had occurred.

Feldshuh rejected that characterisation in strong terms. She said accusing Jewish people of genocide was wild and, in her words, right out of Hitler’s playbook, arguing that it turned victim into perpetrator. She also said she believed the continued existence of the state of Israel was crucial to the well-being of the democratic and free world.
At the same time, Feldshuh said political disagreement would not change how she behaved at work, describing her job as being to love the people on set and to be kind.
Erin Foster on Nobody Wants This Cast Disagreement
Series creator Erin Foster has also addressed the disagreement, describing her feelings as complicated. Speaking on the Not Skinny But Not Fat podcast, she said the set was like dinner tables around the world where people debate and disagree, and that while she loves Brody, she disagrees with him — and that is OK.
A representative for Brody did not immediately respond to a request for comment in the coverage of Feldshuh’s remarks. The exchange highlights how differently members of the same show’s cast view a deeply divisive issue, even as they continue working together.
