One of “Stone Cold” Steve Austin’s old knee braces just found a new home, and this was no replica from a merch stand. The match-worn DonJoy brace dates back to Austin’s Attitude Era run, comes signed by the Texas Rattlesnake himself, and even carries WWE paperwork signed by Linda McMahon.

The brace was sold through Heritage Auctions and is believed to date from around 1999. Austin signed the top in gold paint pen and wrote “5-8-99” next to it, with an old WWF authentication sticker sitting nearby.

This is not a piece that spent 27 years untouched in a display case. There are scratches and paint loss across the brace, and only three of the four Velcro fasteners still work. The fourth may explain why Austin stopped using it: the top button is broken off, and Heritage noted the damage may have ended the brace’s run inside the ring.
The paper trail is just as impressive as the item itself. Along with the WWE letter signed by Linda McMahon, the brace came with authentication from Heritage Auctions, PSA/DNA and Beckett Authentication Services.
Why Steve Austin Match-Worn Gear Sells for Big Money
Getting hold of something Austin actually wore is rare. Heritage noted that very few of his match-worn items have reached the open market, with his famous wrestling vests remaining especially difficult for collectors to find.
His knee braces have already proven their value: the brace Austin wore for his WrestleMania 38 comeback sold for $58,045, while Heritage sold another for a whopping $115,900 in May 2026. These are beat-up pieces of gear that went through Austin’s matches with him, and collectors clearly have no trouble opening their wallets whenever one finally hits the market.
