Amanda Serrano Final Fight Is Set For January 9 In Puerto Rico

Serrano, 38, turned professional in 2009 and built a record of 50 wins, four defeats and one draw, winning world titles in seven divisions from super-flyweight to light-welterweight. She is the only Puerto Rican boxer, male or female, to become an undisputed world champion, and her farewell at home carries enormous emotional weight.

“Boxing has been my life, and I never could have imagined the journey it would take me and my family on,” Serrano said. “To close my career at home in Puerto Rico, in front of the people who have supported me from the beginning, means everything. I’m going to give the fans one final night to remember.”

Serrano Chases The Women’s Knockout Record In Her Last Walk

There is also history on the line. Serrano will be chasing the all-time women’s knockout record, currently held by American pioneer Christy Martin with 32 knockouts. In her last outing, Serrano edged a majority decision over Argentina’s Lucrecia Manzur for her 50th win, but could not land the knockout she needed. That contest was also the first world title fight broadcast live on TikTok, drawing 3.4 million views.

Her opponent, 37-year-old Australian Skye Falzon, has won 12 of her 14 professional fights, including seven by knockout. The bout will be contested over 12 three-minute rounds, the same championship distance Serrano has long championed for women’s boxing.

Serrano’s career will be remembered above all for her rivalry with Ireland’s Katie Taylor. The pair became the first women to headline Madison Square Garden in 2022, met again in a hugely watched Netflix rematch in 2024, and completed their trilogy in July 2025, with Taylor winning all three fights before retiring in September.

Since becoming the first fighter to sign with Most Valuable Promotions in 2021, Serrano has helped push women’s boxing forward, fighting for respect, equal opportunities, fair pay and the choice to compete under the same rules as men. “There’s still more work to do, and I’ll continue fighting for the next generation long after I hang up my gloves,” she said. Promoters Jake Paul and Nakisa Bidarian called her the most accomplished female boxer of all time, and on January 9 she gets one final chance to prove it.
