Chris Jericho has revealed that a TV series based on the early years of his wrestling career is getting close to filming its pilot episode. The AEW star shared the update in a new interview with Skratch N’ Sniff, and fans of the Ayatollah of Rock ‘n’ Rolla should be paying close attention.

Jericho explained that the project is based on his first book, “A Lion’s Tale”, which covers his journey through the early portion of his career — long before he became a multi-time world champion and one of wrestling’s biggest crossover stars.

“We are actually working on something based on my first book, A Lion’s Tale, that we’ve been working on for a while — of doing a TV series based on that,” Jericho said. “We’ve kind of moved it up the food chain and it’s getting pretty close to filming a pilot.”

He also teased that the project already has an actor in mind to play him — someone “very similar to me when he was first starting out” who appeared in the comedy series Letterkenny. Jericho wouldn’t name the actor, only noting, “there is a real facial similarity.”

Who Will Play Young Chris Jericho?

When asked who should play him, Jericho laughed off the obvious choices. “I don’t know. It’s one of those things where whoever would play me, we probably don’t even know. You can’t say Brad Pitt because Brad Pitt’s older than me,” he joked, before adding that the goal goes beyond a simple autobiography.

“I always have to push the envelope that we might have a whole actual TV series about kind of the early years of my career which would be a lot of fun. We’re moving to the pilot stage fairly, fairly soon,” he said.

Jericho has been with All Elite Wrestling since 2019, where he became the first-ever AEW World Champion. A TV series chronicling his grind through the Canadian indies, Japan, Mexico and beyond would be one of the most ambitious wrestling biopics ever attempted.
