Elayna Black is pulling no punches about her WWE experience. The former Cora Jade says she was flat-out told she would never become champion in WWE because she didn’t look physically strong enough — a comment that followed her long after she left the company.

Elayna Black: “I Was Told I Would Not Be Champion”

Speaking in a documentary on TNA Wrestling’s YouTube channel, Black reflected on her WWE NXT run and the frustrations of watching others get opportunities while hers never came — despite taking every piece of coaching advice and improving her performances.

“I felt like I was doing everything right. I felt like I was taking all the advice. I felt like I was improving in every aspect… but I wasn’t getting the opportunities that other people were getting, and I kind of was watching myself being passed over, and I didn’t understand why,” she said.

Then came the line that stuck with her: “I was told that I was not and would not be champion in that company because I looked like I couldn’t even crack an egg.” Black didn’t identify who said it.

WWE’s Scrutiny Changed How Black Saw Her Body

Black said she joined WWE with no major body insecurities — but constant scrutiny changed that. “Very quickly, I started to become very, very insecure about my body… I never thought anything was wrong with my body, and then I get put into this position, and all these eyes in this different spotlight.”

The timing made it harder: she was signed at just 19, and spent her early career “walking on eggshells” worried about how others perceived her. Black has since returned to TNA Wrestling, where she says the environment is different.
