Expelled from Paradise Visual Novel: New Characters and the K2-System
Studio51 is developing the game, and Shotaro Teshirogi — who wrote the Expelled from Paradise: mission.0 prequel novel for the original film — is writing the game’s story. The game includes voice acting in all major scenes.
The story uses a system dubbed the “K2-System,” which divides choices into “Kizuna” (Bonds) and “Kakugo” (Resolve) options. Kizuna choices emphasize the bonds that Angela Balzac makes in the surface world, while Kakugo choices emphasize her resolve to see her mission through. Choices branch the story into different routes, including bad ends.
The game is set in A.D. 2400, after the Nano Hazard drove 98% of humanity to the virtual world of DEVA. A strange new lifeform, the Paraflora, has begun sprouting on the surface alongside colossal worms attacking people — and at the heart of the outbreak lies Svarga, a desert town abandoned to plague, where a stolen top-secret file and a DEVA agent’s trail converge.
Release Date: November 26 on Switch and Steam With English Release
The game launches for Nintendo Switch and PC via Steam on November 26, and it is getting an English release with support for both English and Japanese.
It is not the only return to the franchise this year: Rakuen Tsuihō -Expelled from Paradise- Kokoro no Resonance (Heart’s Resonance), the all-new feature-length anime film sequel, opens in Japan on November 13. The film reunites the original staff — director Seiji Mizushima, scriptwriter Gen Urobuchi of Nitroplus, character designer Masatsugu Saitō, and composer NARASAKI — with Rie Kugimiya reprising her role as Angela Balzac.
November is shaping up to be a big month for Expelled from Paradise fans.
