The original Benchy is a relic of the past — a benchmark print that no longer challenges modern printers. But the little boat still holds a special place in 3D printing lore as the community’s unofficial mascot. So if your printer is bored this weekend, here are 8 delightfully weird Benchy variations to try.

The funniest and most challenging Benchy prints
The Worst Benchy Ever is an earnest attempt at a cursed benchmark — intentionally featuring horizontal offsets, elephant’s foot, stringing and over-extrusion. The magic is all in the print profile; the model looks normal in the slicer but prints as a glorious mess.
The Benchy of Benchys is a Benchy made up of other Benchys — nearly 200g of filament in an 18-hour print — and a genuinely challenging print thanks to all the overhanging elements.
For pop-culture fans, there’s a Back to the Future DeLorean Benchy (released for Benchy’s 10-year birthday in 2025) in two versions: one to paint and finish yourself, one optimized for multi-color printing. Add metallic paint and wires for the full effect.
Practical-ish Benchy upgrades
High Detail Benchy will put your printer through its paces on fine detail — try a 0.2mm nozzle and your best print profile. Mecha Benchy is a posable desk figurine with articulated parts (this revision has easier support removal and lower filament cost). And the Yacht Benchy fixes a glaring flaw of the original: it actually floats. Just remember PLA and water don’t mix long-term, so print in PETG if it’s going near the bath.
