Jin Tae Hyun and Park Si Eun’s heartfelt child-planning advice
On October 30, the couple posted a video titled “Couples School by Park Si Eun and Jin Tae Hyun Lecture 2: The Sooner, The Better — Responsible Child Planning.” In it, Jin Tae Hyun was blunt: “If you’ve decided not to have kids, then don’t. It’s okay if just the two of you are happy, but speaking from our experience, do it early. Have kids quickly and raise them quickly.”
“You have to have a baby in your twenties to give birth to a truly healthy child,” he said. “These days, society has changed, so even in your thirties you feel young, but your body is aging. From your forties, it’s a struggle against youth. It’s definitely better to have children as soon as possible.”
Park Si Eun on their late start and lost pregnancies
Park Si Eun agreed, reflecting on their own timing: “I was 36 and Tae Hyun was 35 when we got married. Our starting point was already very late.” She admitted the couple spent their newlywed years focused on enjoying married life, only starting to prepare for children in their forties — “It was too late,” she said, with Jin Tae Hyun joking, “We were crazy.”
She recalled advice their seniors once gave: “If you get married, have a baby first. Jobs will come even if you want to focus on them, but have a baby first.” “At the time, it didn’t really resonate with me, but now I understand why they said that,” she said. “Having a newlywed period of about a year is okay, but we highly recommend having children sooner.”
Married since 2015, the couple adopted a college-aged daughter in 2019. After two miscarriages, they became pregnant again in 2023 — only to lose the child 20 days before the due date. Their message comes from that pain: decide what’s right for you, but don’t assume time will wait.
