The trailer offers a fresh look at the anime’s take on police inspector Isshiki, whose by-the-book life gets thrown into chaos by her feelings for coworker Rokutanda. It also confirms that famous cosplayer Enako will perform the opening theme song and voice the character Nene Haneshita, making her both the sound and a face of the series.

Animation production is handled by Studio Sakura Create, with Kazuya Komai serving as director. Deko Akao, a veteran of countless anime scripts, takes charge of series composition, while Shohei Hamaguchi designs the characters. The January 2027 window puts it among the winter season’s rom-com offerings.
A Romance Between a Straittlaced Inspector and Her Coworker
The anime is based on the manga by Ayune Araragi, serialized in Kadokawa Shoten’s Monthly Shonen Ace since June 2020. Interestingly, the story began life under the title Rinna Keibu wa Kokyu ga Dekinai, which ran in Ichijinsha’s Monthly Comic Rex from October 2016 to December 2017, before being retooled into its current form.
Yen Press publishes the manga in English. Its synopsis captures the premise perfectly: the straitlaced and serious police inspector Isshiki has earned everyone’s respect, but lately she has not quite been herself at work. Whenever her coworker Rokutanda is around, she gets flustered and slips up. With no experience in complicated feelings, Isshiki decides to enter a pseudo-relationship with Rokutanda to figure out what love is all about.
The setup is a classic workplace rom-com with a twist — one half of the couple is treating romance like an investigation. Fans of slow-burn office romance should have plenty to look forward to when the show arrives in January 2027.
