“Staying busy,” Roberts said when asked what he is up to. “Not with AEW anymore. I’ve re-signed with WWE, doing some stuff for them and just enjoying life.”

Jake Roberts AEW Run Ends After 2019–2026 Stint

Roberts revealed in July 2026 that he was no longer with AEW, ending a stint with the promotion that ran on and off from 2019 to 2026. He made his AEW debut in 2020 ahead of Lance Archer’s arrival, and went on to manage Archer while delivering his signature chilling promos.

What Will Roberts Do in WWE?

Roberts didn’t reveal the specifics of the deal, keeping the details close to the vest. In the same interview, he also offered his now-viral advice to AEW president Tony Khan about loosening up creative control — suggesting he leaves AEW with nothing but well-wishes.

A WWE Hall of Famer and one of wrestling’s most beloved storytellers, Roberts’ return brings him home to the company where he became a legend in the 1980s. Fans will be watching to see what “stuff” he ends up doing.
