Selma Blair has broken her silence on her JFK airport arrest earlier this month, apologizing in an Instagram video and insisting she never “intended to hurt or frighten anyone.”

Selma Blair’s Statement on the October 11 Arrest
“Hi, it’s me. I know I’ve been quiet for a couple of weeks since October 11, and you deserve to hear from me directly, and I’m sorry that it’s taken this long,” the 54-year-old actress said in a nearly two-minute video posted Friday. “There is a legal matter going on, and my lawyers have asked me to not say anything about that day, and I’m listening to them. And I take this very seriously.“
What Happened on Delta Flight 938
Blair was taken into custody at New York’s John F. Kennedy Airport on October 11 after Delta Flight 938 from Los Angeles landed. According to reports, she allegedly tried to open an airplane door mid-flight, punched one flight attendant and bit another — two crew members reported injuries, one with a bloody nose.
After being removed from the aircraft, she was transported to Jamaica Hospital Medical Center for evaluation. Court documents allege she repeatedly kicked a Port Authority police officer in the face, neck and chest, and later kicked a nurse at the hospital.
Charges and What’s Next
Blair pleaded not guilty to two counts of second-degree assault at her arraignment in Queens on October 12 and was released on $20,000 cash bail. The state charges cover the alleged assaults on the officer and nurse; the FBI is separately examining the mid-air incident. Her lawyer has cited a medical emergency — noting Blair’s 2018 multiple sclerosis diagnosis — and the defense argues her actions were not intentional. Her next court date is set for January 19, 2027.
