Steve Maclin says Adam Copeland‘s praise after their match at MLP Northern Rising is “better than anything I’ve ever done in pro wrestling.” Speaking to Fightful’s Sean Ross Sapp, the former TNA World Champion opened up about what it meant to hear a Hall of Famer call him the most wanted free agent in the industry.

Copeland — formerly Edge in WWE — had said: “No matter what I think of Steve Maclin as a person, that man should be the most wanted free agent in this industry. He’s that damn good.” The comment clearly hit Maclin hard, and he described the emotional moment in detail.
“Validation of the Last 15 Years”
Maclin recalled lying on the floor after the match, soaking in the moment while Copeland cut his promo. “I just looked at my wife and started tearing up. I’m like, ‘F***, this is insane.’ You hear that from a Hall of Famer in Adam Copeland… Here I am being validated by one of the best ever to do it from the Attitude Era.”
The veteran framed the praise as validation of 15 years in wrestling — years where he often doubted himself and heard “I just don’t see that for you” from people in the business. “It means a lot. It’s something that I take to heart. I take with pride too, to carry that on every time I step in a ring.”
A Free Agent Moment Worth Watching
Copeland calling Maclin the “most wanted free agent in this industry” is not casual praise — it is the kind of endorsement from a top-tier veteran that tends to make bookers across promotions pay attention. With Maclin openly cherishing the moment and fans rallying behind him, his next move is suddenly one of the more interesting free-agent watches in wrestling.
Elsewhere in the interview, Maclin also talked about working with Rhino, and fans can catch the two-part documentary of his journey to MLP’s Northern Rising on the Boots To Boots YouTube channel.
