Tony D’Angelo is not losing sleep over legacy debates. The NXT Grand Slam Champion says he is “isn’t too focused” on being considered one of the all-time greats in WWE NXT — even as he prepares to challenge for the NXT Championship at Halloween Havoc.
Speaking to Love Wrestling in a new interview, D’Angelo was asked how he feels about being viewed as a potential NXT all-timer after several years on the brand.

“I try not to think of it, honestly. I’m just trying to keep my nose to the grindstone,” D’Angelo said. “At the end of the day, if people want to say I’m one of the pillars or people held of high standard when it comes to NXT and championships and all that, then that would be awesome, and more power to me and my family and what I’ve done. But honestly, I’m not too focused on that.”
D’Angelo broke out on NXT during the brand’s 2.0 era and has been a cornerstone of the developmental brand ever since. Now in 2026, he stands as an NXT Grand Slam Champion with a shot at the top title at Halloween Havoc.
Halloween Havoc Title Shot Looms
The timing of the interview makes the comments notable: with the NXT Championship on the line at Halloween Havoc, D’Angelo’s focus is clearly on winning rather than debating where he ranks in brand history.
Elsewhere in the same interview, D’Angelo also addressed potentially returning to his ‘Don of WWE NXT’ character — a topic covered in our earlier report.
Win the title at Halloween Havoc, and the all-time-great conversation may happen whether he’s focused on it or not.
