CloverWorks is animating the film, with Shin Wakabayashi directing, Erika Yoshida handling series composition, and Yukiko Horiguchi designing the characters. Sayumi Suzushiro and Maaya Uchida will reprise their roles as Nijika and Seika, respectively.
Bocchi the Rock 2027 Movie Details
A movie centered on the Ijichi sisters is a bold choice — Nijika is the heart of Kessoku Band as its drummer, while Seika, the owner of the STARRY live house, has remained one of the franchise’s most beloved supporting characters. Focusing the film on the two promises a deeper look at their family bond and the venue that launched the band.
The news arrives as the franchise continues to expand. A second season of the TV anime was confirmed last February 2025, with Yusuke Yamamoto — the assistant director on season one — replacing Keiichiro Saito as director. The main cast will reprise their roles for the new season.
From Season 1 to the Big Screen
The first season of the anime premiered on October 9, 2022, turning Aki Hamaji’s four-panel manga into a cultural phenomenon about Hitori “Bocchi-chan” Gotoh — a painfully introverted guitarist who practiced six hours a day alone until Nijika dragged her into Kessoku Band. With season 2 on the way and now a 2027 movie on the calendar, fans of the girls’ band era have plenty to look forward to.
