Sheamus is still keeping fans guessing about his future now that he is officially a free agent following his WWE exit. During a recent meet-and-greet, a fan asked The Celtic Warrior directly whether he plans to join AEW — and Sheamus dodged the question with a laugh, saying: “Ask my wife, she’s the one making all the decisions.” (Sheamus — Credits: Ringside News)
The AEW question is especially interesting because speculation has been swirling about AEW Full Gear. Sheamus is scheduled to appear at Big Event NY on November 14, the same day as the pay-per-view. Wrestling Observer’s Dave Meltzer reported that Sheamus asked whether he could leave the convention early, with his stated reason being a wedding — though nothing confirms that has anything to do with Full Gear.
Sheamus Free Agent Status and AEW Speculation
Sheamus became a free agent after his WWE contract expired at the beginning of October, so nothing stops him from appearing elsewhere. Several AEW veterans have reportedly pushed for Tony Khan to bring him in, although there had been no substantial talks or confirmed deal as of the previous update. TNA has also expressed interest in the former WWE Champion.
Sheamus has made it clear his time away should not be confused with retirement. When recently referred to as an “ex-luchador,” he corrected the description and said he is simply enjoying a “long vacation.” For now, he seems perfectly content letting everyone else obsess over his next destination — and if anybody really wants to know where he is going, apparently they need to get his wife on the record.
What’s Next for the Celtic Warrior?
The November 14 date looms large in fan speculation, but Sheamus’ relaxed attitude suggests he is in no hurry to sign anything. Whether a surprise AEW appearance is brewing or fans are simply reading too much into coincidence, his answer keeps the mystery alive — and the wrestling world watching.
