‘Paddy Power’ film cast: Gleeson, Meaney, Murphy and Gillen
Brian Gleeson (“Under Salt Marsh,” “Logan Lucky”), Colm Meaney (“Law Abiding Citizen,” “Layer Cake”), Alex Murphy (“Saipan,” “The Young Offenders”) and Aidan Gillen (“Game of Thrones,” “Queer as Folk”) are all set to star in “Paddy Power,” with Matt Lipsey (“Ted Lasso,” “Inside No.9”) tapped to direct.
The project is being billed as the definitive screen telling of the Paddy Power story — a tale of cheeky marketing, fearless expansion and a betting brand that became a cultural phenomenon far beyond Ireland.
The story behind the film
Paddy Power’s journey is one of the most colorful in modern business: a Dublin bookmaking shop that grew into a global gambling giant through audacious publicity stunts, irreverent advertising and bold bets on markets competitors wouldn’t touch. The company has become as famous for its marketing as for its odds.
With Lipsey — whose credits include the beloved “Ted Lasso” — behind the camera and four of Ireland’s finest actors in front of it, the film promises a raucous, character-driven take on one of the betting world’s great success stories.
