Dead by Daylight Devs Apologize After TheBurntPeanut Streamer Perks Spark Community Backlash

Behaviour Interactive has responded after what appeared to be a Dead by Daylight collaboration with controversial streamer TheBurntPeanut sparked a backlash across the game’s community — with some long-time players reporting they uninstalled the game over it.

TheBurntPeanut Dead by Daylight stream: gifted full roster angers players

Trouble started over Halloween weekend when TheBurntPeanut — a streamer who gained popularity over the last year playing extraction shooters like Arc Raiders — dipped into the horror multiplayer game for the first time. During his Halloween stream, he revealed he had been gifted access to the entire roster of Survivors and Killers.

“Wow! Wow!” he said, scrolling through dozens of instant unlocks. “Guys! I just got all the guys!”

The problem: regular players start with only a small selection of characters and must grind Iridescent Shards or pay around $5 in premium Auric Cells for licensed characters like Rick Grimes or the Xenomorph. Watching a newcomer get everything for free — after a decade of service from loyal fans — was the jump scare nobody wanted.

Behaviour Interactive responds to streamer perks controversy

What began as a contained negative reaction has since grown into a full-blown breaking point for parts of the community. Behaviour Interactive has now responded and apologized for the collaboration as the studio works to calm the fallout.

The incident lands at a sensitive moment for the game, which has spent ten years building one of gaming’s most dedicated multiplayer communities — a community that clearly expects streamer perks to come with more care.
