Dave Bautista’s God of War Transformation: 20 Pounds of Muscle and Counting

Bautista showed off his progress in a video shared to his Instagram story, with the text “Gained 20 lbs for GOW” and a “250” sticker indicating his current weight. Fittingly, he wore a God of War T-shirt in the post — a not-so-subtle sign of where his focus lies.

This isn’t the first glimpse of his transformation. Two months ago, Bautista told fans he had begun weight training again but still had time “to get to where I need to be.” The 20-pound gain suggests the process is well underway, with the actor looking more like the imposing Spartan warrior with each update.

What We Know About the God of War Series

The God of War adaptation is one of the most eagerly awaited video game series in development, bringing Kratos’ brutal, mythological saga to television. Casting Bautista — a former WWE champion whose physicality and screen presence are proven — as the iconic character set fan expectations sky-high.

If his current trajectory continues, Bautista will arrive on set looking every bit the part. Kratos demands a performer who can be both physically dominant and emotionally raw, and the former wrestler-turned-actor appears determined to deliver on both fronts.
