Bambu Lab H3C Review: Nine Toolheads and Six-Second Swaps Make Multicolor 3D Printing Practical

Tired of multicolor 3D prints that waste five times more filament than they use? Bambu Lab’s new H3C flagship attacks that exact problem. After a month of testing, reviewer Patrick Campanale calls it the first multi-toolhead printer from Bambu that truly delivers on the concept — and the one that finally made him want to print in multicolor.

Bambu Lab H3C: What the Swaptek System Does

The headline feature is Swaptek: nine pre-heated toolheads, each with its own dedicated filament path, that swap in under six seconds. Instead of purging a single nozzle between colors — the source of all that waste on older AMS setups — the printer simply switches to a fresh, already-heated nozzle.

The all-new AMS 3H holds up to nine filaments at a time (up to 24 colors with extra AMS units) and can print while drying. Other specs: 330 x 320 x 325mm build volume, 350°C max nozzle temp, 1,400mm/s top speed, Wi-Fi 6, two 1080p cameras, and HEPA/carbon filtration included.

Is the Bambu Lab H3C Worth $2,499?

The H3C is sold only as the H3C AMS Combo for $2,499 directly from Bambu Lab. The reviewer’s verdict: the multi-toolhead approach finally makes multicolor printing fast and clean enough to justify itself — combined with Bambu’s software and hardware experience, which he says he has never felt with another printer. The one honest caveat: if you only print in multiple colors occasionally, it is expensive for a hobby machine.
