John Cena is adding another date to his WWE calendar. The retired 17-time World Champion is reportedly penciled in to appear at WWE Survivor Series in Houston, continuing to build toward the John Cena Classic on December 14 — and no, he’s not getting back in the ring.
John Cena WWE Survivor Series Appearance: Talent Scouting for the Cena Classic
According to Fightful Select, Cena was penciled in for Survivor Series as of showtime on November 2. The storyline reason: he would be on hand to continue scouting talent for the John Cena Classic tournament.
Cena is already appearing on Raw as WWE builds toward the event. His role is strictly as the tournament’s namesake and architect — no in-ring return is expected — but WWE is leaning on him heavily to sell the December special.
John Cena Classic December 14 at Disney World Confirmed
The Classic is currently set for December 14 at Walt Disney World during a special episode of Monday Night Raw, per WWE’s internal documents. That’s a notable shift from earlier speculation that the tournament could land on December 19, going head-to-head with AEW Worlds End — a showdown WWE appears to be avoiding.
One caveat: Cena’s Survivor Series appearance is still listed as a planned appearance rather than a confirmed announcement, and WWE could change plans before the event. But with Cena unveiling the Classic’s custom championship on Raw and Cody Rhodes named as the first entrant, Survivor Series in Houston would be a natural next stop on the hype tour.
