England 3 – 0 Czech Rep
Harry Kane marked his record-equalling 125th cap with a sensational display as he led England to a 3-0 win over Czech Republic at Wembley.
The England captain’s century and a quarter of caps is now level with Peter Shilton’s all-time record that stood for 36 years – and it was a fitting display as he was involved in every single goal on the night.
Kane set up the first – his versatility to peel off to the right wing was rewarded as his cross was comically put into his own net by Czech defender Vladimir Coufal. Wembley almost unanimously laughed at the former West Ham man as the replays were shown on screen.
And Kane’s moment came five minutes before half-time, as a sumptuous move involving Elliot Anderson and Morgan Rogers resulted in the latter crossing for his captain – who had all the time and space to finish.
It wouldn’t be long until Kane sought to double his tally after the break. He struck the bar from distance but he eventually made it three when he headed Lewis Hall’s delivery into the bottom corner at the far post.
Thomas Tuchel’s England end the lengthy international break with three wins from four and 14 goals to show for it. Even though Spain beat Croatia 2-1 with a late comeback win to lead the group, England are all-but assured of a quarter-final spot anyway – needing one point from their last two games to qualify.
But this was Kane’s night. No hat-trick for him as he was taken off with 10 minutes left – but he’s now passed the 90-mark for international goals. He wants a century of goals to add to his appearance – and he’s definitely going to get it.
The big moments from Wembley
5: CLOSE! Alexander-Arnold whips a free-kick over the Czech wall and it’s tipped away by Hornicek.
27: OWN GOAL! Kane’s cross is put into his own net comically by Coufal, who was under no pressure as he tried to clear.
30: OVER! Anderson misses a great chance to double England’s lead but blazes over.
40: GOAL! Kane gets the goal on his big night as Anderson chips the ball over for Rogers down the right, who finds the England captain with acres of space to smash home.
54: OFF THE BAR! Kane is denied a second as his effort from the edge of the box clips the bar after great work from Myles Lewis-Skelly to start the free-flowing attack.
56: NEARLY! Rogers crosses for Bellingham whose deft flick is smartly denied by goalkeeper Hornicek.
57: GOAL! Kane heads in Hall’s corner to double his tally on England’s special night.
81: KANE OFF! The England captain is substituted for Dominic Calvert-Lewin, getting a standing ovation from Wembley. It won’t be his last.
Kane: It’s beyond my wildest dreams but it’s not about me!
England captain Harry Kane:
“It’s right up there. There’s so many milestones throughout my career, looking back to my England debut and how much of a dream come true that was, I think this is even beyond my wildest dreams. To be now at 125, it’s just an extreme privilege.
“I love coming to every England camp, I love playing in every game and representing the country in the best way possible. Tonight was a special night.
“The most important thing was the victory and the win. It’s not about me, it’s about the team. To help the team achieve it with a couple of goals and a good team performance and finish the week strong, it’s been a perfect night for me.”
Does Tuchel think England have moved forward from the World Cup?
England head coach Thomas Tuchel:
“Yeah of course and it’s what we have to do.That is our goal, to constantly improve and develop. We have these experiences together and we had a big tournament together and it was still very positive and still it’s necessary to move forward and to improve, especially in sports. And this is what we’re trying to do.
“We adjusted some details in our structure and we didn’t compromise on the effort and the intensity and on the togetherness of the team.
“The players who were with us in the World Cup, they took care of these standards and of the culture within the team, off the pitch and on the pitch. And I think that’s what you could see and you just could see the positive on a long camp is that you have time for debriefs, that you have time for meetings, you have more time for training, you spend more time together.”
Tuchel’s first post-World Cup camp assessed
Sky Sports’ Sam Blitz at Wembley:
This is Harry Kane’s night, no doubt about it. But has Thomas Tuchel earned back a few more fans after this lengthy international camp?
Fourteen goals in four games against decent opposition. Croatia, Spain and Czech Republic are major tournament regulars.
There’s a bit more clarity in certain England positions. Alexander-Arnold and Hall have had very good camps – when so many questioned whether they were right for this level. When was the last time England had two fixed, natural right-backs?
Jude Bellingham looks up for it and all the headlines for him are positive again. Anderson, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Alex Scott have added depth to midfield.
And Kane keeps on doing the business. This set-up is built for him to thrive in. Are England back?

JJ Gabriel: Man Utd prodigy yet to make decision on future amid interest from Barcelona, Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and PSG | Football News
JJ Gabriel and his family are yet to make a decision on his future but it is increasingly likely his next club will be in Europe.
Real Madrid and Barcelona retain a strong interest, while Paris Saint-Germain and Bayern Munich continue to keep a close eye on his situation.
Gabriel turned 16 on Tuesday, which is the age at which European clubs are allowed to sign him to a professional contract.
Gabriel is eligible to apply for a European passport through his parents.
Sky Sports News reported on Monday evening that United will consider legal action if he moves to a European club.
However, it is understood that this is not a concern to Gabriel and his camp as they consider their next move for the 16-year-old.
Inside JJ Gabriel’s future at Man Utd
Gabriel was pictured in United’s squad photo for the 2026/27 season on Monday but is still expected to leave Old Trafford.
Sky Sports News understands the picture was taken on September 8, when Gabriel was still at the club and expected to feature for the first team this season.
It was just days later that Gabriel and his family put in a formal request to leave.
Gabriel remains registered with United and Sky Sports News understands multiple attempts have been made to reconcile the situation with the 16-year-old and his family, with duty of care being a factor for such a young player, but no progress has been made.
Gabriel has attracted the interest of Europe’s biggest clubs and talks have taken place between his camp and the likes of Barcelona and Real Madrid, with PSG and Bayern Munich also interested in the young attacking talent.
From United’s perspective, they feel they have done all they can to show Gabriel and his family a clear pathway to their first team while also protecting his long-term development.
This involves, for example, featuring in the first-team squad photo that was released on Monday – a message he was to be involved in Michael Carrick’s plans this season.
Another action they would point to is having Gabriel train with the first team for pre-season while also making his debut against Atletico Madrid in a friendly during that time.
However, Gabriel and his family would point to wanting more than the eight to nine minutes off the bench that he got in that particular game.
Gabriel’s involvement in pre-season came after the then 15-year-old failed to report back with the academy squad at the beginning of pre-season as expected.
The U21s arrived back at Carrington a week before the first team, and Gabriel was due back at the same time.
But his family believed it was beneath him and were of the view he should only be involved in first-team training and so pulled him out of reporting back with the U21s.
Sky Sports News also understands Gabriel had an individual development plan led by first-team coaches at the club, including the first-team’s medical and performance departments – who all engaged with Gabriel and his family to ensure he was receiving the attention they felt he deserved.
However, despite there being a feeling from inside the club the relationship between them and Gabriel’s camp was harmonious, there was a difference of opinion over how much he would feature for the first team at the beginning of the season.
Gabriel and his family requested he feature for at least 20 minutes against Sabah in the Champions League, Brighton in the FA Cup and Bournemouth in the Premier League on October 25. This was all before beginning negotiations around a scholarship contract to secure his future at the club.
Gabriel was ineligible for the first-team tie against Sabah as he was not put in United’s A-list. Instead, he played against the Azerbaijani side in the UEFA Youth League that day and scored a hat-trick.
Now that Gabriel has turned 16, he would automatically be added to the club’s B-list and would be eligible for matchday squads going forward – but Gabriel’s family will believe that was the opportune moment for him to be involved in first-team action.
As previously reported, despite being registered until the end of the season, there is a belief that due to a FIFA loophole, Gabriel could leave United for a club in Europe after his 16th birthday if he obtains a European passport, which he could through either of his parents.
Gabriel has not trained with United since.
Club sources believe the tension between the two camps stems from Gabriel’s family wanting to chase historical records and United wanting to protect his long-term development.
To this point, no club-to-club contact has been made regarding the availability of Gabriel.
Sky Sports News has been told that if a European club tries to lure him away through a FIFA loophole, United will consider legal action.
It is presumed from the club’s perspective that the change in attitude from Gabriel’s family around the Sabah game revolves around promises made from elsewhere – whether from another European club or potential representation acting on Gabriel and his family’s behalf.
For now the teenager remains a United player and despite the fractured relationship, those at the club still believe they are the best place for Gabriel and his individual development.
However, it remains unlikely we will ever see Gabriel in a United shirt again, with Europe’s biggest clubs circling the young star.
