By A Mortal Kombat x Street Fighter crossover movie is the dream — and the Street Fighter cast just said they are in. After the film’s stars told IGN they would love to throw down with Scorpion and Sub-Zero on the big screen, Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon has weighed in on the ultimate fighting-game fantasy.

The Cast Started It
With the Street Fighter movie opening in cinemas globally on October 16, its cast — including Andrew Koji, Noah Centineo, Cody Rhodes, Eric André, and Andrew Schulz — was asked about a crossover with the other iconic fighting franchise. Their answer: absolutely.
The timing could not be better. Mortal Kombat II pulled in $129 million at the box office earlier this year, and the Street Fighter director has already said a sequel is being written. The two franchises are having a landmark year at the movies.
Ed Boon Is A Fan Of The Idea
The NetherRealm boss has never hidden his love for Capcom’s fighter. Asked previously about dream guest characters for the games, Boon said he would “love to see a Street Fighter character in Mortal Kombat,” calling himself a huge fan of the series. Mortal Kombat has a long history of guest fighters — from RoboCop and Rambo to Ghostface and Homelander — so the idea is not as far-fetched as it sounds.
A Street Fighter character almost appeared in Mortal Kombat years ago, but Capcom vetoed the proposal. With the executive who killed that deal long gone, fans are hoping the door might finally be open.
Nothing Announced — Yet
For now, the crossover movie remains cast enthusiasm and fan-service banter — no studio has confirmed anything. But with both franchises thriving and a genuine three-decade rivalry fueling the hype, this is the kind of dream match the internet refuses to stop talking about.
