Drew McIntyre has his sights set on one target when he returns to WWE: Roman Reigns — and he says he may have to bring his famous sword back with him, because Roman has “95 family members” who could get involved.

McIntyre has been away from WWE programming since WrestleMania 42, focusing on acting projects. But he has assured fans that his return will be a big deal — for them and for himself — and he already knows exactly who he wants across the ring.
“I Gotta Beat Roman Because I’ve Never Beat Him”
Speaking on Going Ringside, McIntyre was asked about settling scores with CM Punk and Roman Reigns upon his comeback. He didn’t hold back: “I’ll slap them around once I get back. I’m sure Punk will like to be like, ‘Hey, I did some stuff too.’ I’m like, ‘What? Where would I even see your stuff?’ I’d have to search real hard.”
As for Reigns, who is currently promoting his role as Akuma in the Street Fighter (2026) movie, McIntyre predicted he would eclipse him on the acting front too — then added: “I gotta beat Roman because I’ve never beat him.”
The Sword Might Finally Return
McIntyre’s most memorable line was about his legendary sword, which he carried for years in WWE but never used. “Because Roman’s got 95 family members, I may have to bring the sword back. I can’t say I had the sword in WWE for years, I never used it — shockingly so, PG product,” he joked, before adding that in his new film Agent of Shadows, he finally got to use the sword for real.
A McIntyre vs. Reigns program — with the sword back in play — is exactly the kind of blockbuster return match WWE fans have been dreaming about.
