TV Festival Unveils Dates, Venues and Advisory Chair Wayne Garvie for First-Ever Greater Manchester Edition

The UK’s biggest TV Festival is moving north for the first time — and it has revealed its dates, venues, and advisory chair for the landmark edition. Sony international productions boss Wayne Garvie will serve as advisory chair for the first-ever Greater Manchester TV Festival.

Greater Manchester TV Festival 2027: Dates and Venues Revealed

The festival will shift one week back from its traditional Edinburgh slot, running from Tuesday August 31 to Friday September 3 — the week after the August Bank Holiday.

Venues will be Versa Studios Manchester and Aviva Studios. Versa stands on the historic site of the former Granada Studios, giving the event deep roots in British TV history. The editorial programme will play out across studios in the Versa complex and the Law Family Hall in Factory International.

Wayne Garvie Named Advisory Chair

Garvie, president of Sony Pictures Television’s international production business, brings heavyweight credentials to the inaugural Manchester edition. His involvement signals how seriously the industry is taking the festival’s move — Greater Manchester is positioning itself as a genuine rival hub for British television production.

The festival’s northward leap is one of the biggest shake-ups in the UK TV calendar in years. With dates, venues, and a high-profile chair now locked in, the first Greater Manchester edition is officially on the clock.
