Belgian supermodel Rose Bertram has opened up about A Girl Like Rose, the revealing feature documentary chronicling her professional and family life — including how she has coped with her mother’s addiction issues. Production has now wrapped on the film after six years of shooting.
“After watching the film, it was as if I saw my life flash before my eyes,” Bertram said. “I didn’t realize how intense it would be to watch it all again and have so many of the emotions and traumas I had buried for years come back to the surface.”

A Girl Like Rose Documentary: Six Years in the Making
The film comes from filmmaker Jonathan de Jong and his Amsterdam-based banner SUPER7EVEN Productions, following Bertram over six years as her modeling career soared — a career that took the Belgian beauty to runways and magazine covers around the world.
But the film’s most revealing thread is personal. Bertram speaks candidly about growing up with a mother battling addiction, and how that trauma shaped her — something she has rarely discussed publicly despite years in the spotlight.
Rose Bertram on Sharing Her Secret: “Being Shared With The World”
“The thing I’ve kept secret for so long is now, in a way, being shared with the world,” Bertram admitted — a line that captures the documentary’s raw, no-guardrails approach. Watching herself confront those buried emotions on screen was, by her own admission, an intense experience.
The documentary adds Bertram to a growing wave of supermodels and celebrities using long-form film to reclaim their own narratives — trading glossy image-making for vulnerability. With production now wrapped, the film will be looking toward a festival premiere and distribution next.
