Love your Samsung Galaxy but tired of the preinstalled apps you never open? You’re not alone. How-To Geek’s Sanya Shah breaks down five Samsung apps worth replacing right away — and which better alternatives to use instead.
Here are the confirmed standouts from the guide, plus how to remove each one.

1. Bixby: Replace With Gemini
Bixby never became the go-to assistant its maker wanted. Ask it to find information about a place to visit and it often returns a web search instead of a useful answer. Gemini handles the same requests more naturally — explain what you need in everyday language, and it works with other Google services, creating grocery lists in Google Keep or finding directions in Google Maps.
How to remove Bixby: Samsung won’t let you uninstall it normally. Connect your phone to a computer with USB debugging enabled and run this ADB command:
adb shell pm uninstall -k --user 0 com.samsung.android.bixby.agent
2. Samsung Shop: Replace With Amazon
There’s little reason to keep Samsung Shop when Amazon already handles most online shopping — price comparisons, customer reviews and near-unlimited selection in one app. US users also have Walmart and Best Buy as alternatives.
How to remove it: Settings > Apps > Samsung Shop > Uninstall, then confirm. Done.
3. Samsung News: Replace With Google News
Samsung News rarely gives readers enough reason to stick around — a few headlines, nothing interesting, and you’re back to a feed that actually curates well. Switching to Google News gives a more personalized feed in one place.
The Bottom Line
Some preinstalled Samsung apps simply can’t be uninstalled through Settings, which is why the ADB route matters for stubborn ones like Bixby. Clearing out apps you never use frees space for the ones you actually enjoy — and makes your Galaxy feel like yours, not Samsung’s billboard.
Heads-up: ADB commands remove apps for the current user profile. If you’re not comfortable with developer settings, stick to disabling (Settings > Apps) rather than full removal.
