The Trigun franchise is expanding beyond the screen once again. Shueisha’s Jump SQ. RISE magazine announced on Thursday that a brand-new Trigun novel, titled Trigun Manuscript, will arrive this winter, written in a collaboration between series creator Yasuhiro Nightow and Trigun Stampede writer Takehiko Oxi.
The Trigun Manuscript novel will be based on the world of the Trigun Stampede and Trigun Stargaze anime continuity, keeping the franchise’s modern reinterpretation moving forward even as the anime enters its final phase.

Trigun Manuscript Novel Set in the Stampede Continuity
Trigun Stargaze, described as the “final phase” of the Trigun Stampede project, premiered on TV Tokyo on January 10 and was streamed by Crunchyroll as it aired, with an English dub. The series is set 2.5 years after the end of Trigun Stampede, following Vash and his allies through the next chapter of their story.
Trigun Stampede premiered in Japan in January 2023, also streaming on Crunchyroll alongside its English dub. With Oxi — who wrote for Stampede — co-penning the novel, Trigun Manuscript should feel of a piece with the anime continuity fans already know.
Why the Trigun Novel Matters for Fans
The original Trigun manga by Yasuhiro Nightow ran from 1995 to 1997, followed by Trigun Maximum from 1997 to 2007, and the 1998 Madhouse anime remains a classic 26-episode run that aired on Adult Swim in 2003. Between the film Trigun: Badlands Rumble (2010), Stampede, Stargaze, and now a novel, the franchise has never been more active.
No plot details for Trigun Manuscript have been revealed yet. Expect more information as the winter release window approaches.
