My Happy Marriage Stage Musical: What We Know
The Takarazuka Revue is famous for lavish all-female stage adaptations of popular series, so this My Happy Marriage stage musical should be a natural fit for the emotional, period-flavored romance. The musical will run alongside the company’s TAKARAZUKA SPECTACULAR “MANHATTAN FOLLIES” – Seize The Day show.
The stage announcement continues a banner few years for the franchise. Akumi Agitogi and Tsukiho Tsukioka launched the My Happy Marriage light novel series in January 2019, and Yen Press licenses it in English. The story follows Miyo, a girl raised by an abusive stepmother, who is married off to the soldier Kiyoka — a man so cold his previous fiancees fled within three days. With nowhere to go back to, Miyo slowly begins to open her heart to him anyway.
The Anime’s Recent Run
The television anime’s first season premiered in July 2023 with 12 episodes, streaming worldwide on Netflix. An OVA, “Shiawase no Katachi” (The Shape of Happiness), bundled with the eighth novel volume in March 2024 and streamed globally that November. Season 2 followed in January 2025, and a three-episode anime special aired in Japan on October 25, 2026, streaming on Netflix the same evening.
A live-action film adaptation opened in Japan in March 2023 and ranked #1 in its opening weekend, earning 654 million yen in its first three days. Rito Kohsaka’s manga adaptation runs on Square Enix’s Gangan Online and is released in English by Square Enix Manga & Books.
