DC Studios, Warner Bros. Animation Announce Joker: Laugh Riot Anime With Sola Entertainment – News

DC Studios and Warner Bros. Animation announced during their panel at Annecy International Animated Film Festival on Thursday the Joker: Laugh Riot anime, based on the Batman villain Joker, for a worldwide release. Yasuhiro Aoki (ChaO, Batman: Gotham Knight episode 4) is directing the anime at Sola Entertainment (The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim). The companies also announced the Absolute Batman and Krypto animated series during the panel.

Joker: Laugh Riot follows the Joker on a violent crusade to find Batman’s killer.

This year’s 30th issue of Kodansha‘s Morning magazine also revealed on Thursday a new manga based on DC ComicsJoker, titled Machibura JOKER (Joker Walking Around Town), which will launch in the magazine’s next issue on July 2. Masa Ichikawa is drawing the manga. DC is credited for the character and supervision, and international publishing rights agency Fortuna is credited for cooperation.

The Joker also appeared in Wit Studio‘s original Suicide Squad ISEKAI anime, which debuted in the U.S. on Max and Hulu with its first three episodes in June 2024. The series debuted in Japan on July 2024 on Tokyo MX and BS11.

Batman Ninja vs. Yakuza League, Warner Bros. Discovery‘s new Batman Ninja CG anime film, began streaming on HBO Max in July 2025. The film premiered digitally in the U.S. on Amazon Prime Video, Apple TV, Google Play, Vudu, and other services and on various platforms in Japan in March 2025.

7th Be Forever Yamato: Rebel 3199 Film Reveals Title, Visual, October 30 Premiere – News

Bandai Namco Filmworks revealed on Friday that the seventh film in Yamato yo Towa ni: Rebel 3199 (Be Forever Yamato: Rebel 3199), the latest project in the Space Battleship Yamato remakes, is titled Nijiiro no Rinne (Rainbow-Colored Reincarnation) and will open in theaters in Japan on October 30. The staff unveiled a teaser visual by concept artist Kia Asamiya:

The anime will premiere as seven films. Crunchyroll is streaming the anime under the title Star Blazers: Space Battleship Yamato 3199.

The sixth film, Aoi Meikyū (Blue Labyrinth), opened on June 26. In the story, the Yamato passes through a space time node that brings the main characters to the year 2026 in the present-day Reiwa era in Tokyo.

The fifth film opened in Japan on February 20.

The fourth film Mizuiro no Sasha (The Aqua Sasha) opened in Japan in October 2025. The fourth film’s Blu-ray Disc and DVD shipped in Japan in December 2025.

The third film Gunjō no Asteroid (Ultramarine Asteroid) opened in Japan in April 2025.

The anime’s second film Sekijitsu no Shutsugeki (The Assault of the Burning Sun) premiered in Japan in November 2024. The film earned 64,118,600 yen (about US$410,028 in current conversion) in its first three days. Participating theaters offered a special limited edition Blu-ray Disc of the film during its screening run. The film then shipped on retail Blu-ray Disc and DVD in January 2025. Megumi Han took over the role of Sasha in the second film. Megumi Han‘s mother Keiko Han voiced the role in the Be Forever Yamato film.

Kuro no Shinryaku (Dark Invasion), the first film, opened in July 2024. The film earned 58,863,050 yen (about US$376,419 in current conversion) in its first three days.

Naomichi Yamato (From the New World, Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans episode director) is directing the new anime, with Harutoshi Fukui now also credited as supervising director along with his roles as head writer and scriptwriter as in previous anime in the series. Hideki Oka is also returning as co-writer on the script. Nobuteru Yūki is returning as character designer. Junichirō Tamamori, Mika Akitaka, and asushi Ishizu are credited for mechanical designs. Hiroyuki Gotō is the CG producer, while Shōsuke Uechi is credited as CG director. Tomohiro Yoshida is the sound director.

As with prior anime in the series, late producer Yoshinobu Nishizaki is credited for the original work, and his son Shōji Nishizaki is credited as chief production supervisor and copyright chief supervisor. Akira Miyagawa is returning to compose the music alongside Shū Kanematsu (My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!, The Café Terrace and Its Goddesses). Akira Miyagawa‘s late father and original Space Battleship Yamato composer Hiroshi Miyagawa is also credited for music.

The new project is a sequel to the Uchū Senkan Yamato 2205: Aratanaru Tabidachi – Kōshō -STASHA- (Space Battleship Yamato 2205: The New Voyage Part II: Stasha) film, which opened in February 2022.

Crunchyroll to Stream Kagurabachi Anime – News

Crunchyroll announced on Thursday that it will stream the television anime adaptation of Takeru Hokazono‘s Kagurabachi manga in April 2027 worldwide excluding Japan, Mainland China, North Korea, and South Korea. The staff also revealed that Katsuyuki Konishi will play Togo Shiba. Crunchyroll streamed the English-subtitled teaser trailer:

The anime will debut in April 2027. The “world tour” event for the anime will begin this July at Anime Expo in Los Angeles, Japan Expo Paris in Paris, ANImagic in Mannheim, Germany, and in August at Anime NYC in New York. The event will show the first 20 minutes of the first episode, and will end in Japan in spring 2027 where the full first episode will be screened.

Viz Media‘s Shonen Jump service and Shueisha‘s MANGA Plus service are releasing the Kagurabachi manga digitally in English. MANGA Plus describes the story:

Young Chihiro spends his days training under his famous swordsmith father. One day he hopes to become a great sword-maker himself. The goofy father and the serious son–they thought these days would last forever. But suddenly, tragedy strikes. A dark day soaked in blood. Chihiro and his blade now live only for revenge. Epic sword battle action!

The anime stars Taihi Kimura as Chihiro Rokuhira and Tomokazu Seki as Kunishige Rokuhira.

Tetsuya Takeuchi (From Bureaucrat to Villainess: Dad’s Been Reincarnated! director; key animator for Naruto and Naruto Shippūden) is directing the anime at Cypic (The World Is Dancing). Keigo Sasaki (character designer for Blue Exorcist, Uma Musume: Cinderella Gray) is designing the characters. Shochiku and CyberAgent are on the production committee.

Hokazono debuted the Kagurabachi manga in Shueisha‘s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in September 2023. Shueisha published the manga’s 11th compiled volume in Japan on May 1. The manga surpassed 2.2 million copies in circulation as of May 2025. The manga has 4 million copies in circulation.

Viz Media is also releasing the manga in print and released the seventh volume on May 5.

The manga topped the print category in the Next Manga Awards 2024. The manga was nominated in December 2024 for the 70th Shogakukan Manga Awards, and was nominated for the 49th annual Kodansha Manga Awards in April 2025. The manga was also nominated for the 2025 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards. The manga ranked at #13 in January for Da Vinci’s top manga titles of 2025.

CyberAgent established Cygames in 2011, and the company has produced games such as Rage of Bahamut and Granblue Fantasy. Cygames established an anime division in March 2015 and the anime production subsidiary Cygames Pictures in April 2016.

Kindergarten Wars Anime Casts Mirei Kumagai – News

Kumagai voices Mac in spring 2027 series



The official X/Twitter account for the television anime of Yū Chiba‘s Kindergarten WARS (Yōchien Wars) manga revealed on Thursday that Mirei Kumagai will voice Mac, a teacher in the Violet class and Lyla’s caretaker who wears a yellow bear costume:

The anime stars:

Shinsuke Gomi (episode director for Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba, Secrets of the Silent Witch) is directing the anime at Sunrise and Felix Film, and Junko Yamanaka (Kamisama Kiss, Servamp) is designing the characters.

Shueisha‘s MANGA Plus website publishes the Kindergarten WARS manga digitally. Yen Press published the manga’s fourth volume physically on April 28.

Yen Press describes the story:

Rita is Convict 999, a former legendary assassin who now works at a kindergarten for the children of world leaders. Her job is to protect the schoolchildren from the clutches of would-be assassins sent after them! But even with her overwhelming strength, Rita has a weakness—she’s head-over-heels for good-looking men!

Chiba launched the manga on Shueisha‘s Shonen Jump+ app and website in September 2022. Shueisha published the manga’s 17th compiled book volume on April 3. The manga entered its final arc in March 2025, and has over 2 million copies in circulation.

Chiba launched the Yōchien Wars -LUKE- (Kindergarten WARS -LUKE-) spinoff manga in November 2024. The spinoff manga is a 180-page story about the character Luke.
