Olivia Colman Joins ‘Only Murders In The Building’ Season 6

Published

on

The guest star list for Season 6 of Only Murders in the Building just keeps growing.

Olivia Colman has boarded the sixth season of Hulu‘s cozy murder mystery show, set to take place across the pond. The news was unveiled on social media in a video by Selena Gomez, Meryl Streep and Martin Short via the show’s Instagram account. The clip can be watched below.

Colman is the latest addition to the star-studded cast of Season 6, following Doctor Who alum Peter Capaldi. She also joins fellow Season 6 recurring cast additions Jodie Whittaker, Capaldi’s successor and the first woman to portray the iconic Time Lord, and the actor most closely associated with the role. David Tennant, who played the Tenth Doctor and the Fourteenth Doctor will also appear, as will Jim Broadbent.

The previously announced Season 6 recurring guest stars also include Nicola Coughlan, Richard Ayoade, Adrian Lukis, Kathryn Hunter, Jennifer Saunders, Sean Teale, Simone Ashley, Amar Chadha-Patel, Rhea Norwood, Matthew Beard, Sharon Horgan, Martin Freeman, Geri Halliwell-Horner, Jamie Demetriou, Anjana Vasan, Jane Horrocks, Derek Jacobi and Lesley Nicol.

The London-set installment marks the first time the show has gone outside the United States and the beloved Arconia building, where all of the former deaths and investigations have taken place.

Colman’s upcoming Wicker film, in which her fisherwoman character asks Peter Dinklage’s basketmaker to weave her a husband, garnered buzz after the trailer — teasing Alexander Skarsgård’s straw transformation — was released at the end of July. The film arrives in theaters Oct. 23.

“We have had so many amazing guest stars for Only Murders in the Building,” Gomez kicked off the announcement video. Streep agreed, saying “We’re just missing one.”

But it’s not Martin Short, who stepped into the frame in an Oliver Putnam-esque way. He then gestured and named Olivia Colman, who joined them and curtsied.

Macaulay Culkin Signs With CAA (EXCLUSIVE)

Published

on

EXCLUSIVE: Actor Macaulay Culkin has signed with CAA.

One of those actors who will be forever linked to an iconic film, Culkin is known for his role as Kevin McCallister in John Hughes’ holiday classic Home Alone, one of only a handful of films in the last 50 years to have remained at #1 at the box office for more than 10 consecutive weeks. Culkin earned a Golden Globe nomination for his work in the first film and returned for a sequel, with both films continuing to drive major viewing nearly four decades after their release. Per Nielsen, the original Home Alone has been the top-viewed holiday film in three of the last four Decembers across linear and streaming.

In addition to the first two Home Alone films, Culkin worked with Hughes on the beloved comedy Uncle Buck, starring opposite John Candy. His previous feature work also includes Saved! and cult-favorite Party Monster, both of which premiered at Sundance, as well as The Good SonMy Girl, and Disney’s Oscar-nominated animated feature Zootopia 2, where he voiced the role of Cattrick Lynxley.

Culkin has most recently been seen on television in Amazon’s Fallout, earning a Critics Choice Super Awards nomination recognizing a villain role in Season 2. He also starred in Season 10 of Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story and has made appearances in Netflix’s Running Point and HBO’s The Righteous Gemstones.

CAA has been on a tear lately with high-profile signings like Barry Keoghan, Alicia Keys and Anthony Ippolito, the buzzy young star of Amazon MGM’s upcoming I Play Rocky. We most recently reported on their talks to sign Call Her Daddy‘s Alex Cooper away from UTA.

Culkin continues to be represented by Emily Gerson Saines at Untitled and Shelter PR.

ESPN Founder Bill Rasmussen Dies At 93

Published

on

Bill Rasmussen, a sports visionary who founded ESPN in 1979 with his son Scott as the world’s first 24-hour sports television network, died Tuesday at 93 of Parkinson’s disease at his home in Florida.

Shrugging off skeptics, the pioneering Rasmussen – after being fired as communications director of the New England Whalers — acquired space on a communications satellite using a personal credit card. He went door to door to all the major sports leagues, cable operators and potential investors, garnering enough support to launch the Entertainment and Sports Programming network on Sept. 7, 1979. He was the network’s first CEO.

“Bill was a remarkable man — a visionary and an innovator who conceived the idea of a network entirely devoted to sports,” ESPN chairman Jimmy Pitaro said in a statement. “Quite simply, none of us would be here today if it wasn’t for Bill’s passion and all the hard work and entrepreneurial spirit he put into building ESPN in the late 1970s — key aspects of our company culture that still carry on to this day.”

Rasmussen revealed in 2019 that he had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s, a degenerative disease, in 2014.
