Bronson Reed Names Rey Mysterio Among The Hardest-Hitting Wrestlers He’s Ever Shared A Ring With

Bronson Reed has shared the ring with some of the stiffest hitters in professional wrestling — and he’s now revealing exactly which opponents brought the most punishment. Speaking in an interview with Marco Ercole ahead of WWE Money In The Bank, the Australian powerhouse named Bron Breakker, Gunther and, most surprisingly, Rey Mysterio as the hardest-hitting wrestlers he’s encountered.

Across his in-ring career, Reed has battled top stars including Kazuchika Okada and Roman Reigns, so his picks carry serious weight. But when asked to name the three stiffest workers, he reached beyond the obvious names.

Bron Breakker And Gunther Lead The List

Reed’s first pick was his own tag partner. “I haven’t actually wrestled him because he’s my tag partner, but I watch him on a weekly basis beat people up,” Reed said of Bron Breakker. “I’d say Bron Breakker has to be one of the hardest-hitting superstars for sure.”

His second pick was no surprise to anyone who has watched Gunther chop opponents into oblivion. “Gunther is up there,” Reed said. “Gunther is chopped and the intensity that he brings is 100% like nothing else.”

The Surprising Third Pick: Rey Mysterio

The most eye-catching answer came last. Reed named Rey Mysterio — a pick he admitted most fans wouldn’t expect from a “hardest hitter” conversation given the lucha legend’s size.

“Someone that you might not think is a hard hitting superstar but they are, and that’s Rey Mysterio,” Reed explained. “For as small as he is and the way that he can move around and stuff, he still brings every one of those punches as hard as he can, so it sort of shocks you that you’re like, ‘oh my god, this little guy’s beating the hell out of me.'”

It’s a glowing compliment from a man who stands around 6 feet tall and weighs in north of 330 pounds — and a reminder that in wrestling, impact has nothing to do with size. Mysterio, a future Hall of Famer and one of the most influential luchadores of all time, clearly still hits like a truck even after more than three decades in the ring.

Elsewhere in the same interview, Reed also discussed the dream match he wants for WrestleMania 43 — another sign that “Big” Bronson Reed has his sights set firmly on the very top of WWE.
