Writer Hare Tori and manga artist Hirosaki have launched a new manga titled Saijaku Maō no Shinimodori Saiseitan (The Tale of the Rebirth of the Weakest Demon Lord and His Return by Death) on Hero’s Inc.’s HERO’S Web manga website (formerly Comiplex). The series debuted on October 7.

Death Is His Greatest Weapon

The manga centers on Krom, the second Demon Lord — and a ruler weaker than even the Seven Demonic Generals who serve him. When the Demons’ mortal enemies, the Seven Heroes, invade the Demon territory, they slaughter everyone, including the Generals and Krom’s devoted servant Shia.

Consumed by shame, Krom takes his own life to join his companions in death. But instead of oblivion, he awakens one year before his death. Now armed with the knowledge of what is coming, he wields his own death as his greatest weapon and begins preparing for the calamity that awaits him one year from now.

The time-loop revenge setup gives the series a sharp hook, and fans of dark fantasy redemption stories will want to keep an eye on it.

From Villainous Prince to Demon Lord

Hirosaki is best known to many readers as the artist behind the manga adaptation of Ryū Hidari’s The Heroic Tale of the Villainous Prince (Akuyaku Ōji no Eiyūtan) novels. That manga launched on Kadokawa’s KadoComi website under the Dengeki Comic Regulus label in July 2023 and ended in March 2025, with Kadokawa publishing three compiled book volumes.

Yen Press is publishing the manga in English and released the third volume on July 28, so English readers can check out Hirosaki’s art while waiting for news on whether the new series gets licensed too.

Revenge-driven time-loop stories have become one of the most reliable engines in modern manga, and Krom’s premise puts a fresh spin on the formula. The idea of a protagonist who literally weaponizes his own death — dying once, then returning with a year’s worth of preparation — gives the series a ticking clock built right into its concept.

HERO’S Web has been steadily building its lineup since its rebrand from Comiplex, and landing an artist with Hirosaki’s track record is a solid get. Readers who followed The Heroic Tale of the Villainous Prince will already know what to expect from the art; now the question is whether Hare Tori’s story can match it.
