Based on a web novel, “What a Boss Wants” is a romance drama about Kwon Do Hyuk (Sung Hoon), a chaebol boss with zero sense of taste who becomes determined to find the woman whose voice he heard on an album. That woman turns out to be Lee Eun Chae (Oh Se Young), the lead vocalist of India Red, who becomes the one unpredictable variable in his otherwise perfect life.
Meet India Red
Kim Nu Rim plays Park Ho Ya, the band’s guitarist and its resident heartthrob, popular among women. He brings a manly charisma to the stage, but off it he is the youngest member, constantly teased by his bandmates about his military service. His story adds extra fun as he keeps crossing paths with Kwon Do Yeon (Kim Seung Hee) after an unexpected encounter.
Yoo Shin takes on Kim Dong Woo, Lee Eun Chae’s friend of the same age and the band’s bassist. Known for his wild playing style, which contrasts sharply with his cute appearance, he dotes on Eun Chae with such affection that it sparks jealousy in Kwon Do Hyuk, setting up a classic romantic tension.
The Drummer Who Loves Makjang
Park Jae Hyun stars as Ryu, the band’s quiet and composed drummer. He rarely speaks, but he hides a surprising passion for makjang dramas. He observes the blossoming relationship between Kwon Do Hyuk and Lee Eun Chae as if it were one of his favorite melodramas, which should give viewers plenty of comic relief.
India Red is a band formed by friends who share a passion for music, and the newly shared glimpses capture that camaraderie. With its chaebol-meets-indie-rock premise and a November premiere on the horizon, “What a Boss Wants” is shaping up to be a fun addition to the fall K-drama lineup.
