I Lost My Adventurer’s License Anime Teaser Reveals Cast, Staff and January 2027 Debut

The story of a washed-up adventurer and the adorable daughter who gives him a second chance just got one step closer to our screens. The official website for the TV anime of Bōkensha License o Hakudatsusareta Ossan Dakedo, Manamusume ga Dekita node Nonbiri Jinsei o Ōkasuru — better known to English-speaking fans as I Lost My Adventurer’s License, but It’s Fine Because I Have an Adorable Daughter Now — dropped a brand-new teaser promotional video and visual on Thursday, confirming that the series will make its television debut in January 2027.

Meet the Cast and Staff

The teaser also pulled back the curtain on the main cast and production staff. The series stars Hiroki Yasumoto and Yuka Iguchi in the lead roles, a pairing that should immediately excite veteran anime watchers — both are household names with decades of credits behind them. Behind the scenes, Yuki Inaba is directing the anime at Studio Palette, and he is also writing and overseeing the series scripts, giving him tight creative control over the adaptation.

Character designs come courtesy of Kaori Yoshikawa, who doubles as the chief animation director, while the music will be composed by Ohshu and Daiki Okuno, with Space Shower Music handling music production. Inaba and Yoshikawa previously teamed up on Horror Collector and KamiKatsu: Working for God in a Godless World, so the pair brings a proven working relationship to this fantasy project.

A Second Life for a Fallen Legend

The series adapts Manimani Ononata’s light novel series, which began life on the Shōsetsuka ni Narō website back in 2017 before being picked up by SB Creative’s GA Novel imprint in August 2018 with illustrations by Fuzichoco. The story follows Douglas, once celebrated as a legendary enhancement spellcaster, who has fallen from grace — booted from the hero party and stripped of his adventurer’s license until he is reduced to little more than an average, weak old man wandering aimlessly.

Everything changes when a fateful encounter with Rabi, a cursed little girl, kicks off a new adventure and gives Douglas something he never expected: a chance at a peaceful, ordinary life. Fans of English-language manga can also check out the story through Fumi Tadaura’s manga adaptation, which Comikey and Square Enix’s Manga UP! Global service publish in English. Tadaura’s version launched on Square Enix’s Manga UP! service in November 2018, so there is plenty of material to read before the January premiere.

With the cozy fantasy genre continuing its hot streak in anime, I Lost My Adventurer’s License looks set to scratch the same wholesome itch that has made found-family fantasies so popular. The January 2027 premiere is still over a year away, but the first teaser suggests production is well underway.
