Tony Khan Teases Adam Copeland Wrestling At Tokyo Dome: ‘I’ll Leave Some Mystery To That’

AEW President Tony Khan isn’t ruling anything out when it comes to Adam Copeland wrestling at the Tokyo Dome. Asked about the possibility during his WrestleDream media call, Khan played it coy: “I’ll leave some mystery to that.”

The question comes just a day after Copeland dropped a bombshell on the October 14 edition of AEW Dynamite/Collision, revealing that he will be retiring from pro wrestling in 2027. Khan confirmed that Cope’s retirement announcement has been planned for some time.

The Tokyo Dome Is A White Whale

The Tokyo Dome remains one of the ‘white whale’ venues Copeland has wanted to check off before hanging up the boots, and the timing could hardly be better. Wrestle Kingdom 21 takes place at the Tokyo Dome on January 4, 2027, right in the middle of Copeland’s retirement year.

AEW already has a heavy presence on the road to The Dome. As of now, Kenny Omega, Will Ospreay, MJF, and Jon Moxley are all involved in NJPW storylines building toward Wrestle Kingdom 21, so the door for crossover appearances is clearly open.

What Could This Mean?

Khan’s refusal to deny the possibility is telling. AEW and NJPW have a strong working relationship, and sending Copeland to the Tokyo Dome for one last appearance at the most famous wrestling venue in Japan would be a fitting chapter in his farewell run.

Of course, it’s just as possible that Khan is keeping his cards close to protect future plans. Either way, the speculation alone is enough to have wrestling fans dreaming about a Dome moment for the Rated-R Superstar before he calls it a career in 2027.
