WWE

Mercedes Martinez has some good news after a tough few months. The veteran wrestler, who announced the end of her in-ring career in August following a torn ACL, went under the knife on October 15 — and the surgery was fully paid for by her GoFundMe.

Martinez updated fans on social media a day after the procedure, sharing the outcome in her own words:

“ACL fully repaired, small MCL tear fixed, & arthritis found. Today we remove the bandages, clean up, & start at-home rehab! THANK YOU! GoFundMe covered surgery in full! Forever grateful.”

A Career Cut Short By Injury

The torn ACL forced Martinez to call time on her in-ring career in August. A GoFundMe was later set up by supporters to help cover the cost of surgery and the long road of recovery — and the wrestling community clearly showed up, funding the operation in full.

What’s Next For Martinez

While her days as an active competitor are over, Martinez isn’t leaving the business. She was recently announced as one of the lead agents for PRODUCE Wrestling, a new role that keeps her experience and knowledge in the industry for the next generation of talent.
