The Opps Have Brought Out a New Bowens
Since joining The Opps, Bowens has transformed into a more serious and vicious competitor, and Joe says that is exactly what he wanted to see from the former member of The Acclaimed. In the interview, Joe praised Bowens’ athleticism and crowd connection, noting that the added edge has made him multifaceted.
“I think he’s becoming a much more varied competitor, where he’s going to be multifaceted, and listen, he’s always been a blue-chipper athlete,” Joe said. “He’s always been a tremendous grappler. He’s able to connect with crowds. He’s able to bring people off their feet. But it’s just now kind of pairing a little bit of more viciousness, putting a little bit more edge on the blade, and putting him in the positions where and hopefully he can shine and then kind of show the world what he’s capable of.”
A New Chapter for the Former Acclaimed Star
Bowens rose to fame as one half of The Acclaimed alongside Max Caster, with his “scissor me” catchphrase becoming one of AEW’s most popular. His move into The Opps faction marked a dramatic character shift, and Joe’s comments confirm the change is by design. Under Joe’s leadership, the group has positioned itself as one of AEW’s most dominant forces, and Bowens looks ready for the biggest singles spotlight of his career.
Joe also weighed in on the current generation of wrestlers during the same interview, arguing their technical ability is significantly higher than previous generations.
