Detective Niide Toshiro is done playing by the game’s rules. In new stills from “kiDnap GAME”, Sakaguchi Kentaro‘s desperate detective embarks on a dangerous solo mission to find his kidnapped wife — even if it means going up against the police team that suspects him.
The thriller centers on an unprecedented kidnapping case unfolding simultaneously across seven Asian cities: Seoul, Tokyo, Taipei, Singapore, Bangkok, Naha, and Manila. Seven individuals are each given different missions and forced into a deadly survival game, where they must complete their assignments before anyone else to save their loved ones — and survive themselves.
A Detective Becomes the Prime Suspect
Niide Toshiro, a detective with the Shinjuku Central Police Station, is desperately searching for his missing wife Niide Saori (Sakurai Yuki) amid the wave of simultaneous kidnappings. Even after taking a leave of absence, he ventures into dangerous situations alone — all while evading close surveillance by the Special Crimes Investigation Team, which has named him a prime suspect.
For Niide Toshiro, his wife is more than family; she is his savior. Scarred as a child by domestic violence and consumed by anger, he was pulled out of the darkness by Saori. The carrot doll she gave him to control his temper — and her plea to “stop being angry and show kindness” — became the reason he became a police officer.
Regret, Determination, and a Broken Game
Tracing her whereabouts, he meets a food truck owner who reveals Saori used to ask for carrot recipes. Remembering how he reluctantly ate the carrot dishes she lovingly prepared, he is overcome with belated regret — and a desperate determination to save her at all costs.
At the end of episode 2, the first contestant was eliminated and a hostage died, sending Niide Toshiro into a fury. Now, rather than being consumed by the game’s brutal rules, he recalls his wife’s lesson about kindness and makes a decisive move to shatter the game itself.
The next episode of “kiDnap GAME” airs on October 20 at 10 p.m. KST. With the detective now openly defying the game, expect the tension to hit a new peak.
