A Thriller Built on Clashing Memories
Directed by Jo Young Min of You and Everything Else, The Perfect Lie centers on a man and a woman who offer completely opposite accounts of the same memory, clashing fiercely in their search for the truth.
Seo Hyun Jin plays Kang Ji Sun, an elementary school librarian living a peaceful life — until a perfect first date with Min Joon Ho (Yoo Yeon Seok), a man who gives her the first flutter of excitement in a long while, pulls her into an unexpected incident.
Surfing as an Escape
The newly released stills show Seo Hyun Jin gazing silently at rolling waves, her expression unreadable, before paddling out and walking back to shore soaked from head to toe with her heavy surfboard in hand.
In the drama, surfing is more than a hobby — it is the window into Kang Ji Sun’s inner self. Behind the warm smile she wears for the children at her library, she carries the scars of losing her parents at an early age. The waves become her escape, a place where she can briefly set down the weight of her heart and fully feel the sensation of being alive.
The production team praised her dedication, saying the on-set staff were constantly surprised and impressed by the passion of the actress, who “gives her all without missing even the smallest detail.” With its clash of contradictory memories and a heroine who outruns grief on a surfboard, The Perfect Lie is shaping up as one of the season’s most intriguing K-drama premieres.
