Kim Hee Sun and Go Soo could be reuniting on screen for the first time in 23 years. On October 20, a media outlet reported that both stars are in talks to lead the new MBC drama “The Wife” (literal title).

A Reunion 23 Years in the Making
Kim Hee Sun’s agency, Hinge Entertainment, has already responded with encouragement, stating that she is “reviewing the casting offer positively.” Go Soo’s agency has not yet commented. If both accept, the two will play a married couple — their first project together since the SBS series “My Fair Lady,” which wrapped in 2003.
For fans who have followed both careers since the early 2000s, the reunion alone is headline-worthy. Kim Hee Sun has remained one of Korea’s most enduring leading ladies, while Go Soo continues to be celebrated for his intense, emotionally layered performances.
Dark Secrets Behind a Perfect Life
“The Wife” promises to be anything but a light romance. The drama depicts the raw face of desire and love surrounding a woman, charting the portrait — and atonement — of a tragic life as she falls into a darker abyss of hell while protecting a secret at the cost of her life.
Kim Hee Sun has been offered the role of Eun Ip Sae, a woman whose past is the envy of everyone: she achieved a perfect CSAT score and entered Seoul National University as the top student. But behind that glittering history lies a secret, and she suffers as she confronts the truths she once ignored to protect it.
With casting still being finalized, “The Wife” is already generating serious buzz — a prestige MBC drama, a career-best role for Kim Hee Sun, and a long-awaited reunion that could make it one of the most talked-about premieres on the horizon.
