Trent Alexander-Arnold to Leave Real Madrid? Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Man City All Watching

Is Trent Alexander-Arnold already eyeing the Bernabéu exit door? According to fresh reports, the Real Madrid defender is considering his future in Spain — and a host of Premier League heavyweights, including his former club Liverpool, are circling.

Per TEAMtalk, via ESPN’s Transfer Talk, the 27-year-old is growing frustrated with his lack of playing time under José Mourinho, having managed just three LaLiga starts this season. Competition from Denzel Dumfries has squeezed him out of the right-back pecking order, and the weekend’s team sheet reportedly rubbed salt in the wound: midfielder Federico Valverde was fielded at right-back against Sevilla while Alexander-Arnold sat on the bench.

That bench role has not gone unnoticed back in England. Liverpool, Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City are all said to be monitoring the situation, with Bayern Munich also keeping tabs.

An Anfield Reunion?

Liverpool’s interest is the headline story. The Reds never quite replaced Alexander-Arnold after his 2025 move to Madrid ended his lifelong association with the club, and Jeremie Frimpong’s injury has made reinforcements at right-back a priority. A reunion would bring back one of the most creative full-backs in world football — though his substantial Madrid salary would be a serious obstacle for any buyer.

Real Madrid, for their part, are not actively looking to sell the England international — but reports suggest they would consider a reasonable offer if his playing time doesn’t improve.

What Happens Next?

There’s one important caveat: Alexander-Arnold is reportedly not planning a January move and remains focused on succeeding in Spain. This is one to watch across the coming windows rather than a deal about to drop. But with Mourinho’s faith in question and four of England’s biggest clubs on alert, the Bernabéu’s most talked-about full-back could yet become the transfer saga of 2027.
