Lexis King has taken his rivalry with Zilla Fatu somewhere truly nasty, dropping a diss track on October 19 that mocks Fatu’s late father Umaga, his time in prison, and his recent hand injury — and the wrestling world is split on whether he’s gone too far.

King released the music video for “Zilla Vanilla” on social media, performing in front of an ice cream truck while dancers bounced around him. The video itself plays light and goofy — the ice cream theme runs through the chorus — but the lyrics are anything but. King questions Fatu’s toughness throughout, then goes after the things that hit closest to home: the son of Umaga is taunted about his famous father, with King comparing their legacies as the sons of Umaga and Brian Pillman respectively.

From there the track digs into Fatu’s six years behind bars with a crude prison joke, takes shots at his tattoos, and even drags fellow NXT star Arianna Grace into the insult about Fatu’s luck with women. He caps it off by taking credit for the hand injury Fatu suffered in their storyline, referencing the steel steps attack in verse.

A Feud That Turned Personal

The beef started over recruitment, not rap battles. Back on the September 1 episode of NXT, King and his BirthRight faction tried to bring Fatu into the fold — and Fatu answered with a superkick to King’s face. BirthRight put Fatu through a table the following week after another rejection, and when the two finally met in a singles match on October 6, Fatu won despite interference — only for BirthRight to attack him afterward and slam the steel steps onto his arm.

That injury has been central to the story ever since, and King’s track mines it for material. What began as a faction-rejection angle has now spiraled into one of the most personal feuds in NXT, dragging in dead relatives, prison history, and personal relationships.

Did King Cross the Line?

Fatu hasn’t responded to the track yet, but he hardly lacks motivation: he already beat King once, and he’s got every reason to want the rematch now. King may be having fun playing rapper, but he’s handed his rival a whole arsenal of ammunition for their next confrontation.
