The music of Grotesqqque keeps getting bigger. The official website for Atsushi Nishigori’s original anime film confirmed on Wednesday that the song “ZUKIZUKI”, performed by singer JUNNA and yutori vocalist Kotoko Satō, will feature in the film’s “Yoroshiku★Girl” story. Yuyoyuppe, another music contributor to the segment, wrote the lyrics and scored and arranged the track. The song is already available on various music services, and the site has started streaming a collaboration music video pairing the song with footage from the film.

An Omnibus Film With 35 Musical Acts
Grotesqqque is an omnibus film built around three stories with completely different worldviews. “Yoroshiku★Girl” — also known as “4649 Girl,” a play on words where the numbers 4649 read as “yoroshiku” (nice to meet you) in Japanese — anchors the musical side of the project. The other segments include “Nocturne: Nuit Grotesque,” or “On This Grotesque Night.” Across the three stories, a staggering 35 musical acts contribute to the film’s soundtrack, making music a central pillar of the experience rather than a backdrop.
The main themes are already set: the band METALVERSE performs the opening theme song “Shoot Shoot Shoot,” while Haoto performs the ending theme with lyrics by momosu momosu. The new ZUKIZUKI reveal adds another layer to the film’s rock-infused identity.
The Talent Behind the Project
Director Atsushi Nishigori — best known for his work on The IDOLM@STER and DARLING in the FRANXX — is pulling triple duty on Grotesqqque, directing the film while also writing the screenplay and designing the characters. The film comes from JOEN, the company jointly established by Aniplex, its CloverWorks animation studio, Wit Studio, and publisher Shueisha, with CloverWorks producer Yūichi Fukushima and Wit Studio producer Tetsuya Nakatake serving as representative directors.
The film had its world premiere at this year’s Fantasia International Film Festival in Montreal, and the Japan Society hosted the U.S. premiere in New York City on October 8, where Nishigori gave a pre-screening introduction in person. It opens in Japan on November 6, while the “Yoroshiku★Girl” segment streams early for a limited time on Netflix in Japan from October 23 to November 5.
